Червячный редуктор используется для повышения и передачи крутящего момента от двигателя к исполнительному механизму.Основу червячного редуктора составляет червячная пара. На входном валу агрегата установлен червяк (винт со спиральной нарезкой), который передает крутящий момент на выходной вал, вступая в зацепление с зубьями червячного колеса (шестерни). Из-за такой конструкции червячную передачу иногда называют зубчато-винтовой.Червяки обычно изготавливаются из углеродистых и легированных сталей, прошедших термообработку. Для венца червячных колес, как правило, используют бронзу, реже чугун. Выпускаются редукторы с верхним и нижним расположением червяка. Оси валов расположены под углом 90 градусов по отношению друг к другу. В состав привода может входить несколько передаточных ступеней.Червячный редуктор способен воспринимать значительные нагрузки, при этом обеспечивает большой диапазон передаточных чисел (от 10:1 до 500:1). Агрегат имеет компактные размеры и характеризуется практически бесшумной работой.
